Depression can be something that is overlooked in our society. In the month of October, depression is nationally acknowledged to bring awareness and recognition to this condition. Symptoms of Depression

 

  •         Loss of interest or pleasure in doing things
  •         Feeling down, depressed, or hopeless
  •         Trouble sleeping or excessive sleeping
  •         Fatigue
  •         Appetite change- either decreased appetite or overeating
  •         Feeling like you have let your family down
  •         Trouble concentrating
  •         Moving or speaking slowly, or being restless
  •         Thoughts that you would be better dead or thoughts of hurting yourself

 

Treatment

 

There are multiple ways to treat depression, including medication and non-medication therapies. Medication and supplements are both very effective to help treat depression. A provider can help you find the most effective and safest therapy for you. Other avenues that can help support your brain chemistry include:

  •         Counseling, therapy, or opening up to someone
  •         Adequate and quality sleep
  •         Exercise
  •         Eating a healthy and balanced diet
