By far the best and most comprehensive care I have ever received.  Dr. Mote has put together an amazing team. Each person has contributed to my healing. At CHC, I felt heard, validated, and valued. Dr. Mote was able to find the missing puzzle piece and has me on a path to better wellness to achieve my health goals. I have learned so much on this journey. I have found a tribe. I highly recommend CHC!

This is the BEST team of medical staff I have ever been around. The attentiveness and care for individuals with chronic illness are unparalleled and the simple act of LISTENING has been mastered by the staff. Functional Medicine has been the singular approach to overcoming health issues that has had a positive outcome after years of searching. For those who have battled with a lack of understanding from doctors, specialists, friends, and family this facility is the place for you.

When I came to Cornerstone Health Community, I had been to five doctors in the last year. I have had health issues most of my life which were becoming exacerbated as I went through menopause. The staff at Cornerstone is a family of caregivers led by Dr. Mote. Their approach to my healthcare was incredibly thorough and expansive. I learned so much from the team it was as if I had taken a course on my body and individual health. With Cornerstone, I achieved all my health goals and learned how to maintain optimum health. Each team member genuinely cares about you and I highly recommend Cornerstone Health Community!

I cannot say enough about how Cornerstone has helped me improve the quality of my life. I came to Cornerstone at the recommendation of a friend who had seen significant health improvements. I had seen how it had changed things for him and I was curious about how it might change things for me.

Cornerstone has really supported me in identifying and making some changes that have resulted in significant health benefits:

  • I was previously on a portable oxygen concentrator when I walked. I have completely eliminated the need to use this.
  • I had GERD and was on daily medication. This has disappeared and I am no longer taking medication.
  • My allergies have improved and I am no longer taking allergy medication on a daily basis.
  • I have lost about 45 pounds and still going. My mobility, sense of wellbeing and confidence has improved immensely.
  • My A1c (the indicator for diabetes) has dropped from 6.5 to 5.4. I am no longer considered a borderline diabetic!

I feel that Dr. Mote did a great job of explaining the science behind my eating and lifestyle habits and how changing those could make a significant difference for me. Perhaps the most important concept that has helped me is hearing that I do not have to be perfect. If I am getting things right 90 to 95% of the time, that is great. I do not need to beat myself up if I have an off day or two.

I have lost over 45 pounds by changing my eating and activity levels. I am eating clean – organic, paleo, grain, and dairy free. As mentioned previously, I am not 100% perfect, but I take care of myself most of the time. I have a goal of exercising five times a week – that can be walking, water aerobics, gardening, etc. Again, I am not perfect but having the goal has helped me be better than I was before.

Moyra has been great with helping me find recipes that fit with my eating goals. It is not about not eating – it is about eating the right things. It does not mean I have to be hungry all the time or feel deprived. The other things I that I am eating, things that I never thought I would be able to such as potatoes (mashed garlic and onion potatoes are great), banana bread, pumpkin bread, zucchini bread, and apple crisps are all things that taste great and I am able to enjoy. Once I got over the sugar cravings after the first two weeks, it has not really been all that hard.

I have felt very supported. I am only part of the way there, but I have been living clean for about six months now – long enough that I feel that I will be able to sustain this lifestyle and continue to see the health benefits.

Barbara - Denver, CO

As a child, I had chronic stomachaches and illnesses, which became exasperated as I got older (significantly, after unknowingly being exposed to toxic mold).  I had so many different symptoms I could not pinpoint the cause of what was happening to me.  Society’s normal is to see a doctor to prescribe medications to help the symptoms. Not one doctor took the time to help me tie all my symptoms together.  I cannot explain the horrible mental anguish that one experiences when the pain continues and the memory loss makes you feel like you are losing your critical thinking and personality.  You feel like you are dying and no one else sees it or believes you.  After years of trying to find answers, I heard someone mention functional medicine.  I had never heard of it and I was willing to try anything to feel better.

Finding Dr. Mote has been life-changing. From the moment I met Dr. Mote and his office staff, I immediately knew they believed in my pain, they cared about what I was going through, and they were in the fight with me.  Dr. Mote literally saved my life.  I had reached a place of being so defeated mentally and physically, that I had come to terms with my new normal, a dulled down version of myself who was tired, forgetful, and always struggling with pain. For anyone that reads this and thinks yes, that’s what happens when you get older, my answer to you is NO.  You don’t have to live like that.  Find out what is going on.  Step outside of society’s normal and find the root cause.  Everyone will have a unique experience based on his or her situation, but I urge you to take the leap of faith with his practice.  Stay the course for the treatments and lean on the staff when you need to.  Getting healthy is a journey and you’re not alone.

Before my health declined, I was running marathons. 26.2 miles is a long distance. As my health deteriorated, it became increasingly difficult to run any distance, let alone the marathon. After several years of struggling with rheumatoid arthritis, I decided I would try a new approach. My goal was to arrest the joint inflammation and pain, to sleep better, have more energy, and normalize my digestion. As I committed to Dr. Mote’s recommendations and my health was improving, I began running better and better! I followed every recommendation Dr. Mote offered me and all of my goals have been achieved! I’m thrilled to say that I achieved a 10 year goal I had in running, and I qualified for the Boston Marathon! I’m running the best I ever have, and completely attribute it to following the health care plan I received! I am no longer on any medications for the autoimmune condition and feel that my health has truly been restored! Moyra, the nutrition therapist, was critical in helping me transition to eating that would support my health. Everyone in the office is committed to supporting you on your way back to your very best health. Patient is required as Dr. Mote carefully tests and develops a plan to restore your health. I began feeling better within a few months, and felt that all of my goals were achieved within 6 months. I cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Mote and his entire staff.
