Depression can be something that is overlooked in our society. In the month of October, depression is nationally acknowledged to bring awareness and recognition to this condition. If you are feeling down or having any combination of the symptoms listed below, it is important to talk to your healthcare provider and be screened for depression. Symptoms of Depression


  •         Loss of interest or pleasure in doing things
  •         Feeling down, depressed, or hopeless
  •         Trouble sleeping or excessive sleeping
  •         Fatigue
  •         Appetite change- either decreased appetite or overeating
  •         Feeling like you have let your family down
  •         Trouble concentrating
  •         Moving or speaking slowly, or being restless
  •         Thoughts that you would be better dead or thoughts of hurting yourself




There are multiple ways to treat depression, including medication and non-medication therapies. Medication and supplements are both very effective to help treat depression. A provider can help you find the most effective and safest therapy for you. Other avenues that can help support your brain chemistry include:

  •         Counseling, therapy, or opening up to someone
  •         Adequate and quality sleep
  •         Exercise
